Canadian Idol - Top Seven Guys

Oops. Should have incorporated this into my first post - but what the hell right?

So, it's another round for the guys, and the decisions are getting tougher and tougher. Each guy was stellar last night, so I had no clue who to vote for. But here are my top five for the finals.

Brian Melo




Dwight D'eon




Liam Styles Chang




Now, the ladies have been falling apart a bit this season. Let's hope they can keep it together and really pull through.

Canadian Idol - Ladies Top Nine

Wow - um, ok. I wasn't exactly blown away by their performances last night. In fact, I almost fell asleep. Out of nine, only three caught my attention. Here they are:


Mila Miller - ATTENTION SP! This isn't even in the same league as Taylor's version, but all in all, she was very entertaining.




Naiomi Joy Blackhall - while it wasn't a WOW performance, this girl has got charisma, and a lot of natural talent. I enjoyed this one immensley. To me, she's got a Sade vibe happening.




Carley Rae Jepsen - I love this girl. She knows what works for her. While she didn't take a huge risk, at this point it's all about getting the audience to fall in love with you - and that she did.




I really hope the girls step it up, because right now, the guys are leaving them in the dust. I was very disappointed in them this week. I expected better.

Alrighty - I've had some requests to continue posting the top performances from each round. Last night the guys performed, and over all, did a great job. One or two disappointments, but otherwise, an overall hard decisions for me to make.

Canadian Idol - Ladies Night

Well, I gave you my top four picks for the men, now here are my top four for the women so far.

Montana Martin Ilse



This 16 year old spitfire from Sainte-Julienne, QC, is quite the unusual entertainer. She's unique, and true to herself. I didn't think she had what it takes to make it this far, and I'm still a little torn on her, but one thing I CAN say about her - she's making it interesting. I'm still trying to hear past the thick Quebecois accent tho.....


Khalila G.



Holy hell this woman is genius!! She's 23 from Dorval, QC. Perfect, flawless performance in my mind. Trouble is, has she set the bar too high for herself? I hope not.


Carly Rae Jepsen




From Mission, BC, this 21 year old is just too adorable for words! I love this performance.


Martha Joy



Another young one, Martha is 16 and from my hometown! She's got such a maturity to her voice, but she needs to bring it down and have fun. I didn't like this song for her, mainly because it needs that particular edge that only a rock singer can bring to it. She sounded like she was trying for Celine.


Well, we said goodbye to four competitors - and three of them were Ontario kids!!! ARRRGGGGHHHHH! C'mon gang - let's at least try for ONE Ontario rep in the top two this year!! There are 9 of you left - gotta beat the odds this year gang!

Canadian Idol - yes we've got TALENT

Ok, so there's no grey-haired angel soul man in this years group of Top 22 contenders for the Canadian Idol crown -but we do have some amazing young men who are going to give each other a damn good run. Here's four of them.

First one - Tyler Mullendore



This kid is only 19 from Lake Ainslie, NS. He knows rock and roll. While I thought he mumbled through the first few lines, he finished out strong. Very exciting to watch.

Next - JayDee Bixby



Now, THIS kid is only 16 and ain't he just the cutest thing in the world??? As Zack says, he's very very pretty. BUT he's got a killer voice and I hope he goes far.


Now for Greg Neufeld.



Greg is 23 from Abbotsford BC, and one of last seasons casualties from the Top Ten. I really liked him last year, and hope he's learned his lesson.


And lastly, Liam Styles Chang



He is 17 from Victoria BC. This guy KICKED ASS. I thought he was totally amazing. I'm glad he didn't go first - I would have switched off the tv.


For our American friends - ummmmm, what did you think? They're not Taylor (and no one ever will be) but they're a damn sight more exciting than what AI gave us last season (or what CI has been giving us the last two).

I'm looking forward to an exciting season.
